FUNDING | INCLUSIVE MAINSTREAM FUND

Your IMF allocation can cover the cost

From July 2026, colleges and other 16–19 providers are automatically eligible for a share of the Inclusive Mainstream Fund — no application needed. Quality first teaching for every learner is exactly what the fund is designed to support.

What is the best PD for colleges and 16–19 providers?

The strongest college CPD combines new knowledge with real modelling, structured practice and follow-up, rather than a single training day. The Teacher CPD Academy pairs interactive courses with College Unpacked's filmed classroom modelling and in-person workshops, so staff see a technique, practise it, and keep using it. Subscriptions can be for a single year or for multiple, helping build a solid foundation and maintain it year after year.

How is 16–19 teacher training different to school CPD?

Many college staff are subject experts first, not trained teachers, and their learners are almost adults, managing more independence than school pupils but not yet fully independent. Good college CPD focuses on setting expectations, building relationships and adapting to a wide range of learner needs, alongside the evidence-informed teaching techniques themselves.

What is College Unpacked?

College Unpacked is a library of real teaching, filmed in a college, with expert commentary from Doug Lemov. It covers four areas — Cold-Calling, Modelling and Explanations, Retrieval and Spacing, and Supportive Learning Environments — with an ever expanding number of videos in each.

Can staff without a teaching background use the Academy?

Yes. The Academy is built for staff who are experts in their field, whether that's mathematics, mechanics or hairdressing, as well as trained teachers. Our courses are designed to build confidence from the ground up, avoiding jargon, whilst College Unpacked shows techniques in practice before explaining the theory behind them.
